WORKSHOPS 2025
I teach book art classes all around the United States for many wonderful Book Art organizations. I find beauty in the imperfect, the ephemeral, the discarded and overlooked. I am always creating. Play is an essential part of my process, whether designing artist books or assemblages. Because so much of my professional work is done digitally, my more creative work provides an arena to play and experiment with letterpress, book structures, paper ephemera, pop ups, paint and random typography. Learn a new structure or skill this year; join me and sign up for one or a few of these workshops.

Binding Post Book with Collage Covers
Gather all of those old magazines and images you have been collecting and create a unique book to house collages, photos, notes, and even use as a journal. We’ll begin by collaging the covers, then attach the book cloth to the edge of the covers and create hinges and holes, and then create the interior pages. Experience making books and working with collage is helpful, but not necessary. All skill levels are welcome.

Valentine Tunnel Book
Surprise your Valentine with an original tunnel book! Using book board, collaged images, and red and purple paper, create an inspiring book project that is perfect to share on February 14th.
In this virtual workshop, we’ll make heart-shaped panels supported by paper gussets, creating the illusion of depth and perspective. The panels expand to reveal illustrated and collaged images, viewable through heart-shaped windows (openings in the paper panels).

Media Flag/Tag Books with Painted Cover
Create a truly original book that showcases your painting, collage, and book-making techniques. This class is perfect for anyone who is excited to explore a different twist on a creative book structure. Originally created by Hedi Kyle, the traditional flag book has small panels that cross each other when the book opens and closes. In this modified version, all of the panels sit in alignment, and when the book is open, your original, hand-decorated tags are on display.
